Firocoxib Vetnil® Gel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with highly selective COX-2 activity, containing a 1.2% concentration of the firocoxib molecule . Its main mechanism of action is the selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that plays an important role in the inflammatory cascade and, consequently, in animal pain. Therefore, firocoxib spares the inhibition of COX-1, a constitutive enzyme involved in physiological mechanisms such as gastric mucus production, renal perfusion, and platelet homeostasis, reducing the side effects commonly observed with the use of non-selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs ( NSAIDs ).

INDICATION

Firocoxib Vetnil® Gel is indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation in horses in various musculoskeletal and visceral conditions, both acute and chronic. It is also indicated for post-surgical use.

HOW TO USE

To be used in horses, orally.

Indicated at a dose of 0.1 mg/kg, which is equivalent to 1 g of Firocoxib Vetnil ® Gel for every 120 kg, once a day, for 7 to 14 days.

The plunger of the 35 g syringe has graduations, with each dose marking (D) being enough to treat 600 kg and each half dose treating 300 kg of weight.

Before use, make sure the animal has no food in its mouth. After administration, keep the head upright for a few seconds to ensure complete ingestion of the product.

Dosages may be changed according to the veterinarian's instructions.
