The family business, founded in 1886, today it presents itself as a group of independent companies, but globally aligned. Present in more than 60 countries, the group has 18 factories and exports to 80 countries around the world.

Today the KLINGER Group is established as the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial sealing equipment, as well as control and monitoring of fluids. Our clients are market leading companies, belonging to the processing industry, infrastructure, automotive, maritime, oil and gas, chemical industry, paper and cellulose, energy sector, food and beverage and pharmaceutical industry.

KLINGER offers the highest certified quality that also meets international standards — such as piston valves, that follow American ASME B16.34 and European DIN standards, and hydraulic cardboards, which receives ASTM F certification 104. 1886 – 1928

  • 1886 Young engineer Richard Klinger opens a small workshop in Vienna;
  • 1890 Invention of the reflective level display;
  • 1893 Factory start in Gumpoldskirchen (on the de Vienna);
  • Creation of Klingerit®, the revolutionary calendered compressed fiber gasket material.
  • 1922: KLINGER manufactures the first valve with an elastic and replaceable industrial sealing system for high temperatures. With the KLINGER piston valve, the standard industrial valve was invented.

1928 – 1957

  • Karl Klinger takes over the business;
  • 1924-1931: Development of the industrial sealing segment;
  • 1928: The development of seals for combustion engines, opens a new market segment – ​​the production of brake pads.
  • With the beginning of the Second World War, KLINGER factories are forced to switch to weapons production. Em 1945, all transportable machines were dismantled by Russian troops. Em 1947, regular production resumes.

1957 – 1984

  • Hubert Klinger-Lohr becomes the new managing director of the Group;
  • Expansion of factories and construction of a European distribution network with service 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Development of PTFE industrial sealing materials and introduction of KLINGERsil®, the world's first asbestos-free gasket material;
  • Production of large ball valves on an industrial scale – KLINGER.

1984 – 2010

  • Thomas Klinger-Lohr is the fourth generation to lead the company.
  • 1992: KLINGER Holding is established as the parent company of the growing KLINGER Group.
  • Merger of the automotive segment with German market leader Elring;
  • Introduction of a revolutionary high temperature industrial sealing material: KLINGER Quantum;
  • Opening of new subsidiaries in Russia, Thailand and China.

2010 – TODAY

  • 2010-2015: Heinz Scharl leads company as CEO;
  • Strategic acquisitions in target segments. Focus on services and organic growth outside Europe;
  • 2015 – 2017: The Board of Directors of the KLINGER Group, composed by Daniel Schibli (CEO) e Peter Müller (CFO), assumes management of the KLINGER Group;
  • Em 2018, Christoph Klinger-Lohr joins the Board of Management of the KLINGER Group as CEO;
  • As the company celebrates its 135th anniversary in 2021, the KLINGER Group is made up of 45 entities in more than 60 countries around the world.
